Doug Collins left TNT to become head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, the franchise that drafted him number one overall in the 1970's. Collins coached the Bulls & Pistons previously among other teams. Collins coached Michael Jordan and Grant Hill. Philadelphia struggled to start the 2010-11 NBA season. As the NBA All Star break nears, Philadelphia is close to .500. These 76ers don't have an All Star player, they are getting the job done with defense. Collins preaches defense, defense and more defense to the team. Holliday and Turner are young guards learning from veterans Brand and Iguodala. Collins is getting excellent bench play from Young and Williams. Philadelphia will be an interesting team to pay attention to, during the second half of the season. Doug Collins should recieve consideration for the award.
