Harvey & Mets Are Off To A Quick Start This Season

The New York Mets aren't 'Amazing' just yet, however to kick start the 2015 Major League Baseball season they are doing well. The team from Queens are trying to be Kings as they said atop the National League East with a 19-11 record good enough for 3.5 game lead as this blog article is written. Matt Harvey has been his usual All Star self winning 5 straight decisions before suffering his 1st loss this week vs. Cole Hamels and the Phillies. Veteran starter Bartolo Colon is also off to a 5-1 start with his record. Meanwhile Mets closer Jeurys Famila is a the top of the saves department with 12 thus far. Who knows if the New York Mets can qualify for the playoffs at seasons end. However if they can continue to pitch well and mix in timely hitting, they will give themselves the chance to just that. 6 weeks in for a 6 month season.

Young Astros Off To A Solid Start

The 2015 Major League Baseball season is underway. At the time of this blog issue we are six weeks into the season. There's only one team so far with more wins than the Houston Astros. That team would be the St. Louis Cardinals the Running Redbirds are currently 22-8 with a 6.5 game lead in the National League Central. Meanwhile in HTown the Astros currently have the 2nd best record in baseball with a 20-11 record. That's good enough for a 6 game lead in the American League West. It's so surprise for the Cardinals to be playing solid baseball. Meanwhile in Houston many thought this would be a rebuilding year for the young Astros. All Star Jose Altuve is hitting .339 and leads the team with 21 RBI's. Can the young Astros maintain their stellar play and make a post season push ?

Mayweather Out Points Pacquiao Improves To 48-0

Saturday night at the MGM Grand a pair of boxers the world has been waiting to see finally squared off. Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao finally took place. At the end of the night Floyd bested Manny on a unanimous decision. Pacquiao due to Mayweather Jr. jab and defense couldn't let his hands go like he usually do. Manny landed less than one hundred total punches in the 12 round bout. Mayweather Jr. won round and round, he wasn't highly active himself, just was active enough to get the job done. Even Floyd father was upset with him in between rounds for not letting his hands go. Floyd if nothing else fought an excellent strategic fight. Not exciting yet strategic. Mayweather Jr. said after the fight he will fight one more time and that will be in September. No word on what's next for Pac Man at this point.

Which Direction Do The Spurs Go From Here ?

The 6th seeded Spurs took a 3-2 lead into Game 6 Thursday night a home. The Clippers won on the road forcing a Game 7 in Los Angeles on Saturday. The defending champions had been in the last two NBA Finals losing to Miami in 7, then beating Miami in 5. They were my pick to play Cleveland in June. It will not manifest thanks the Chris Paul game winning off balance bank shot over Tim Duncan. The Clippers survived by 2 and advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals. The question is where does the core of the Spurs go from here ? This a franchise that has won 5 NBA Championships since 1999 and been in the Finals 6 times. Obviously father time plays a role with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Also for guys like Kawhi Leonard the defending NBA Finals MVP and Danny Green are free agents. What will the front office of the Spurs do this summer ? What will the veterans decide to do as far as retiring or coming back ? What will Leonard and Green do with free agency knocking at their respective door ? Saturday night could it have been the last time we witnessed the San Antonio core as we know it ? Only time will tell.

Clippers Dethrone Champs In Classic Series

The Clippers are advancing to the Western Conference Semifinals. Veteran Chris Paul battled through a series of hamstring injuries Saturday night at Staples Center. Unfortunately someone had to go home in this first round series. Paul banked home an off balance runner over Tim Duncan with about one second remaining in Game 7. The unquestioned leader of the Clippers willed him team to victory over the defending champions. The veteran Spurs will go home meanwhile the Clippers will move on and travel to Houston. The Rockets will be waiting after they eliminated the Dallas Mavericks earlier in the week. The question will be, can Chris Paul go in Game 1 and if he can how long can he play ? Last season it took at 1st round Game 7 home victory to close out Golden State dejavu.
