Jackson & Friends Put Eagles Out Their Misery

The night after Christmas was the backdrop. Saturday Night Football on NFL Network. For one team a chance to win the NFC East for another team a chance to keep their season alive. Kirk Cousins for the 2nd time during the 2015 season made the Philadelphia pass defense look like Swiss cheese. Unlike the 90 yard game winning touchdown drive in Week 4 down in Washington, late game heroics weren't needed. Philadelphia took a 7-0 lead. Washington ultimately won the game 38-24. During Desean Jackson homecoming. The receiver was drafted by Philadelphia in 2008. Following the 2013 season Chip Kelly released him. Washington is 3-1 the last 2 years against the Eagles since Jackson has landed in the DMV. Tight end Jordan Reed was in beast mode well over 100 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. There wasn't a Philadelphia linebacker or safety that could contain him. Washington improves to 9-6 with a chance at a double digit win season in Dallas next week. Meanwhile for 2nd straight year Eagles (6-9) will play a meaningless game up the New Jersey Turnpike against the Giants. Kelly and Lurie the Eagles head coach and owner will have plenty of questions to answer shortly at season end.

Cam Newton + Carolina 12-0 Start

The Carolina Panthers have a chance to capture home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Cam Newton and his teammates have captured a second straight NFC South title. Head coach Ron Rivera football team plays physically on both sides of the football. The offense is physically aggressive as well as the defense. Cam Newton is the superstar of the team yet the supporting cast is tremendous. He has an up and coming cornerback on defense in Josh Norman. Also a pair of lights out linebackers in Davis and Kuechly. On offense the veteran fullback Mike Tolbert is a workhouse likewise for his backfield mate running back Jonathan Stewart. Meanwhile down the seem at tight end Greg Olsen makes plays. Carolina could be the NFC representative in Santa Clara for Super Bowl XL. However there's plenty of work to be done.

It's Only One Rule I Will Not Lose : Warriors 24-0 And Counting...

Obviously the guys from the Bay Area aren't going 82-0 yet this is extremely fun to watch. While Stephen Curry can dagger you with this shooting, dribbling and passing ability his comrades showed last year during the title run they can do damage themselves. Besides Curry, guys like Klay Thompson or Draymond Green can exploit an opponent. Big men can eat down low led by Andrew Bogut. Then there's the versatility of Finals MVP Andre Iguodala or Shaun Livington. There's the old head veteran like Barbosa. We didn't even mention Harrison Barnes who's been battling an injury. Interim coach Luke Walton has been going great in the absence of Steve Kerr. Kerr had a set back this summer following the Finals as he recovers from back surgery. It's just fantastic to watch history and watch fun basketball individually and collectively from the World Champions.

Harper Adds To Award Winning Year For Under Amour Athletes

Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals recently took home the 2015 NL MVP award. The outfielder who plays in the Nations Capital won it unanimous from the baseball writers. Tom Brady yeah we know that guy he won 2014 regular season MVP and Super Bowl XLIX MVP. He and his Under Amour counterpart Cam Newton who has Carolina 12-0 are in the race for 2015 NFL MVP. Oh yeah Stephen Curry won the 2014-15 NBA MVP and may have already clinched the 2015-16 MVP award. While gunning for back to back NBA titles. Last but not least Jordan Spieth won the 2015 Masters and is the world's number one ranked golfer. Need I say more

Hey Under Armour MVP Race Could Be Over Already

A little over a quarter into the 2015-16 NBA season. Really just starting the month of December and Under Armour could have a winner again. Say what ? 2014-15 NBA MVP Stephen Curry could win another MVP award and it's not even close. Barring major injury obviously where is the competition to dethrone this guy. He's come back better than ever. Steph is leading the association in scoring 32.5 points per game. Add in 6 assists 5 rebounds and 2 steals per night. As this is being written Golden State in 24-0. Curry has put the work in behind the scenes and basically is un guard able. Pick your poison from Chef Curry basically and hope for the best.

The Road To The (Football) Final Four

Year two of the College Football Playoff is here. Last year we saw Ohio State defeat Oregon to win the National Championship. Ohio State and Oregon advanced by beating Alabama and defending National Champion Florida State. This year it will be a New Years Eve semifinal featuring undefeated Clemson vs. Oklahoma down in the Orange Bowl. Meanwhile a pair of one loss teams will play at the Cotton Bowl : Alabama vs. Michigan State. Power Conference match ups ACC vs. Big 12 and SEC vs. Big Ten. The winners of those games will play for all the marbles in the desert of Glendale, Arizona. The next 2-3 weeks leading up to the semis and title games should be exciting.

Mission Accomplished KC World Series Champions

30 years in the making, 1985 was the last time the Royals were the kings of Major League Baseball. Those Royals were led by Hall of Fame player George Brett as they beat cross state rival St. Louis. In 2014 the Royals brought baseball life back to Kansas City. Royals fans witnessed playoff baseball for the first time in a long time. 30 years worth the wait because of that magical 2014 postseason run. It begin with an epic comeback in the Wild Card game and fell just short vs. San Francisco in a literal Fall Classic. No Wild Card game this year. Kansas City won the AL Central then would beat the Houston Astros in the ALDS & Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS. The NL Champion New York Mets were hot coming into the 2015 World Series. The Royals cooled them down quickly with a 5 game diamond dominance. Winning the title in 5 (4-1) finishing the Mets off in the Big Apple. While taking the trophy back to the Midwest. Coming into 2016 Spring Training all eyes will be on the young Royals. Kansas City will look to repeat.

The '6' Is Partying Like It's 1993

Toronto native and rap icon Drake said it famously : Started from the bottom now we here. The Blue Jays took both the 1992 & 1993 World Series. 22 years later would past until they made another playoff appearance. The ALDS is only a 5 game series and Toronto lost Game 1 & Game 2 at home. Fans didn't know if their beloved Jays would play another game at Rodgers Centre this calender year. Texas had all the momentum and dropped both games in Arlington. Setting the stage for Game 5 back in the '6'. Drake has also made that known from Toronto area code. Texas came out swinging Wednesday and took an early road lead. An interesting and controversial 7th inning basically decided the game and eventually the series. Jose Bautista long blast nearly blew the roof of the dome. Bautista is a long time Blue Jay that's been in town during the lean years. Now along with his teammates he's ALCS bound. Set to take on the defending American League champion Kansas City Royals. Right now the Jays not only have Toronto on their back, they have the entire country of Canada cheering them on ! 3 straight playoff wins after on the brink of elimination following an 0-2 hole.

Maddon Has The Cubs Believing World Series

Joe Maddon left his long time managerial job with the Tampa Bay Rays following the 2014 season. Former Red Sox GM Theo Epstein hired Maddon this past off season. During the 2015 season that hire has paid major dividends. Under Joe Maddon Tampa Bay made several playoff appearances including an American League pennant in 2008. Meanwhile the Cubs won the 2nd NL Wild Card this season. Chicago went into Pittsburgh and took on the Pirates in a one game playoff. Maddon with his unique managerial moves helped the Cubs advance to the ALDS. Wrigley Field witnessed history in Game 4 of the ALDS, it was the first playoff series clinching win at the historical venue. St. Louis who finished with the best record in baseball was sent packing by their NL Central rivals. Chicago is NLCS bound and will await the Thursday Dodgers/Mets winner for their opponent.

Darrelle Put The D Back In Defense For Jets

Rookie head coach Todd Bowles got a treat this offseason. The Jets signed back their play making cornerback Darrelle Revis. Revis was gone from Gotham for a few years. First with Tampa Bay and then last season winning the Superbowl with AFC East rival New England. Just like old times through two games the Jets defense looks ferocious. Including the 5 takeaways on Monday night during a road victory in Indianapolis. Revis Island accounted for 3 takeaways that night by himself. The Jets are 2-0 and tied atop the AFC East with New England. They will host an 0-2 Philadelphia squad on Sunday. Todd Bowles is a defensive mind he's been a defensive coordinator in this league. Now he has the Jets defense rocking rolling on all 3 levels. Similar to their back to back AFC Championship Game appearances in 2009 and 2010 that were fueled by Rex Ryan.

Get Your Popcorn Ready Julio & The Falcons Are Putting On A Show

First year head coach Dan Quinn may have inherited the best wide receiver (arguably) in the National Football League : Julio Jones. Jones was rewarded with a contraction extension this off season. Helping lead Atlanta to a 2-0 start over a pair of NFC East opponents : Eagles and Giants. Jones has torched both secondaries and has been flat out unstoppable. Currently he has 22 receptions for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you opt to single cover him = trouble. If you opt to put a safety over the top = trouble the guy can still make you pay or open it up for others. The 5th year man from Alabama has certainly made a name for himself. Atlanta travels to Arlington, TX to take on the Cowboys in week 3.

Think About It Following Overturned Suspension Brady On A Mission

Just before the season was set to begin a judge lifted the four game suspension following 'Deflate Gate' this past Sunday in Orchard Park, NY the Bills fans wish he was still out. 466 passing yards later the New England Patriots are off to a 2-0 start. Week one the Patriots again led by Tom Brady carved up the Pittsburgh Steelers to kick of the 2015 NFL campaign. No one can stop Gronk then guys like Edelman and Amendola are getting theirs as well. The offensive line barely allows anyone to get near the Superbowl MVP. The Patriots haven't won back to back Superbowls since XXXVIII and XXXIX respectively. That is what is at stake this season. Who can challenge this group in the AFC East and in the conference ?

No Jordy Nelson With AR No Problem

Green Bay lost Pro Bowl wide receiver Jordy Nelson for the season. No one touched Nelson in a pre season game vs. Pittsburgh during his ACL injury. The Packers brought back James Jones the veteran wideout who was apart of the Superbowl XLV winning team. Add him to the mix of young talent on the outside led by Randall Cobb and the offense doesn't miss a beat. NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers has picked up where he left off a season ago. This past Sunday night in Green Bay he led the Packers over Seattle. A revenge game to say the lease after Green Bay lost up in Seattle during the NFC Championship Game. A game in which the Packers led most of the way before losing in overtime. 2-0 is good however Green Bay wants to be great. All roads in the NFC could come through Lambeau Field in January. Stay tuned.

Nick Saban Former Team Michigan State Now Ranked 2nd Following Tide Loss

Heading into week three of college football the Big Ten is on top. Following last week road win by Ole Miss which knocked off Alabama in a high scoring affair. Michigan State is ranked 2nd and defending National Champion : Ohio State is still ranked first in the country. Alabama is historically known for their defense especially under Saban however they gave up well over forty points a week ago. Last season Alabama landed in the College Football Playoff with one loss. Maybe this year the Tide can do the same. However they will need to rectify some issues. Meanwhile in East Lansing the Spartans will look to challenge the Buckeyes for Big Ten supremacy and also a potential National Championship. This is getting pretty good and we aren't even out of the month of September yet. Saturday November 21 Michigan State travels to Columbus.

The Ohio State Has The Talented Quarterbacks

After watching Ohio State vs. Virginia Tech last Monday, I am left wondering if their is a team out there that can deny a Buckeyes repeat. Barring major injury the National Championship could be coming back to Columbus. Cardele Jones was the starting quarterback in Blacksburg, VA. Played well utilizing his arm and legs. J.T Barrett also saw playing time and he showed off his skill set. Meanwhile Braxton Miller scored as a wide receiver and as a quarterback threw for a score. Meanwhile Miller had a video game like spin during a long run from the pocket, it seemed surreal.
Oh by the way Ohio State can run the football with Ezekiel Elliot. I'm sure teams such as Michigan (obviously), Michigan State, Minnesota along with the rest of the Big Ten will be aiming to beat the Buckeyes. However it will be a tough task.

Roberta Vinci Ends Serena Historical Run

Thursday evening the U.S Open was delayed due to rain. Friday morning Roberta Vinci took on Serena Williams in the semifinals. Williams was trying to advance to the final on Saturday. Vinci actually lost the first set 2-6 then responded with 6-4, 6-4 victories. The dream of the 'Serena Slam' was ended. It has not been done since Martina Navratilova in 1988. Roberta Vinci ranked 23rd knockout Serena Williams ranked number 1. Vinci will take on Flavia Pennetta in an all Italian womens final. History was witnessed in Queens on Friday. History was also denied.

New York New York Both Teams Could Be Playing In October

At the time of this article both New York City teams have a real chance at extending their respective seasons. The New York Mets have over taken the NL East favorite Washington Nationals. The Mets currently hold a 6.5 game lead. Meanwhile in the AL East the Yankees sit 1.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays. However the Yankees currently are the American League top Wild Card team holding a 4 game lead. Yankees manager Joe Girardi and Mets manager Terry Collins realize both of their teams are getting it done with solid pitching. Which are obvious keys to getting to postseason play. The spotlight in October could shine brightly in the Bronx and Queens. Both managers should be candidates for manager of the year awards.

The Price Is Right For A Playoff Push In The 6

The Blue Jays are making a strong push to bring playoff baseball back to Toronto. Toronto hasn't seen their beloved Blue Jays play October baseball since they were last there in 1993. Hey it ended well that year Joe Carter hitting a series clinching home run vs. Mitch Williams to beat the Philadelphia Phillies. 22 years is the gap since the Blue Jays won back to back World Series titles. This summer has been great north of the border David Price returns to the AL East as the Jays landed him in a deal with Detroit. Also they added Troy Tulowitzki in a swap of shortstops for Jose Reyes. For those who don't know thanks to Toronto native Drake and it's multiple area codes of 416 & 647, people have been encouraged to nickname the city the 6. Currently Toronto holds one of the two American League Wild Card spots and is in striking distance of the division leader New York Yankees. The Blue Jays have so much talent : Jose Bautista, Mark Buehrle and Josh Donaldson just to name a few. Down the stretch they come as the Jays are making their run for a post season birth.

2016 The Buzz Is In 4 Air Jordan Cement IV

1989 is when they originally appeared. 1999 is when they last appeared...that's with Nike Air on the back that is. 2016 they are rumored to be returning. The Air Jordan IV appears to be set for an Olympic year return to shelves. Back in 2013 Jordan Brand released the 88' Air Jordan III in Cement. To celebrate Michael Jordan winning the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk championship. Hey most fans of sneakers remember this from the 1989 Spike Lee film 'Do The Right Thing'. My man 'Buggin' Out' rocked these. Let's see if the rumor holds true for 2016.

Fall Classics Air Jordan VI Maroon On Deck

October 24, 2015 the maroon colorway of the Air Jordan will be returning to retailers. The cost will be $220. These kicks are part of Jordan Brand remastered series. Supposedly it's better quality which means the retail price has gone up. Also with these maroon VI's haven't been retroed. 1991-92 was the year they originally released as the Chicago Bulls were in route to their 2nd straight NBA Finals. The Bulls knocked off the Portland Trail Blazers in 6 games for back to back World Championships. The fan favorite Nike Air will also be returning to the back of the maroon VI's.

Australian - French - Wimbledon Down 1 More To Go For Serena

She represents Compton, California. She kicks behind on the tennis court regardless of the surface. She is in her early thirties and shows no signs of slowing down. She is a Nike endorser. She is simply a flat out winner. Her name is Serena Williams. 3 Grand Slam victories in the calendar year of 2015 and by winning Wimbledon on Saturday another major under her belt. All eyes will be on Serena when the U.S Open returns to New York City in late August early September. Ms. Williams will go for the 2015 Grand Slam sweep. Serena Williams simply continues to add to her legacy by adding to her victory total. Australian down (check), French down (check) and Wimbledon (down) check. See you in the Big Apple !

Looks Like Ned Yost Royals Are Back For More

After going through a nearly 30 year playoff drought the Kansas City Royals made the 2014 playoffs. By winning the Wild Card then a come from behind victory vs. Oakland to advance in the Wild Card game. That set off an electric run through the postseason spear headed by the man in the dugout manger Ned Yost. Kansas City came up just short in the World Series losing in 6 games to San Francisco. The young Royals are out the prove 2014 was no fluke. They play the same brand of baseball solid starting pitching. Which is followed by a fantastic bullpen. The team plays tremendous defense. As this article is being written Kansas City is 51-33 good for best record in the American League. Only St. Louis has a better record in all of Major League Baseball. Jerome Cain leads the team in batting average he's hitting .311 while playing a stellar outfield. Catcher Salvador Perez has crushed 11 home runs and DH Kendrys Morales is the team leader in RBIs with 57. Greg Holland closes games out with 18 saves thus far. If KC gets in again they will be a problem to get out in October when it comes to elimination.

Chicago Blackhawks Did It Again

The Chicago Blackhawks went on to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games to close out the 2015 Stanley Cup Final. Led by Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp the Blackhawks after trailing 3-2 vs. Anaheim won the Western Conference Final. Chicago would even the series at home vs. the Ducks then head out west to win a decisive Game 7 on the road. Chicago set the tone early in the Stanley Cup Final by remaining in reach on the road during Game 1 in Tampa before stealing the first game. By knocking off Tampa Bay, Chicago won their third Stanley Cup since 2010. 3 championships in 6 seasons ain't so bad is it ? There was some willing and dealing via trades following the championship round. Let's see if the Blackhawks can bounce back next season with the chance to go back to back.

Will Aldridge Do For Duncan What Duncan Did For Robinson

In 1997 San Antonio won the NBA Draft Lottery. Basically it was the Tim Duncan sweepstakes.
Virgin Island born and Wake Forrest bred Duncan was headed to the southwest part of Texas. Meanwhile Hall Of Fame center David Robinson had a slew of individual achievements, yet an NBA Championship avoided him. Then came the strike shorten 1999 season where Duncan helped the Admiral capture his 1st title as well as the franchise 1st championship. Duncan would help lead San Antonio to 5 NBA titles and Robinson was long for a pair of them. La Marcus Aldridge is headed to San Antonio after leaving the only team he has ever known since entering the NBA out of Texas. Out with the old in Portland, in with the new in San Antonio. As Tim Duncan approaches 40, he can still play the game at a high level and the time is now for him and his teammates to add another Larry O'Brien trophy. Manu is probably coming back now for a chance at that, Tony Parker will be ready as well. Add in the likes of Danny Green and the Spurs could be crowned champions once again like in June of 2014. The rich just get richer.

Splash Brothers Close Out 67 Win Season With NBA Championship

The franchise that made it's way from Philadephia to San Francisco back in the day, then crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and landed in Oakland have reached the mountain top. Led by the Splash Brothers : 2014-15 MVP Stephen Curry and his backcourt mate Klay Thompson knocked off the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-2 to capture the franchise 1st NBA title in over 40 years. When you include the Philadelphia Warriors titles the organization became 4 time champions. These two young guards fed of each other all season. They stretched NBA defenses like rubber bands. Both can put it down on the deck, each can catch and shoot and both guards can pull up from anywhere with range. Next season the bulls eye with obviously be on Golden State back as they try to defend their title. Nevertheless they will have an enjoyable summer as they celebrate with the Larry O'Brien trophy. Barring injury the Warriors will at worse give themselves a chance to repeat next season.

Philadelphia : How You Like Me Now ? Iguoadala Finals MVP

Andre Iguodala journey has been long, yet not easy. His family is originally from the county of Nigeria. However he was raised in Springfield, Illinois. Andre Iguodala not only played basketball in high school where he received a scholarship to the University of Arizona, he ran track as well. Iguodala posted solid all around numbers during his time in Tuscon. When Andre left school early in 2004 he became a lottery pick. Iguodala would come to Philadelphia a town that had a superstar with the same initials. Allen Iverson would leave Philadelphia via trade 3 seasons after Andre Iguodala was selected. In 2012 Dre became an All Star. He was selected by the Eastern Conference coaches as a reserve. Then Dre was selected to represent the US Men's National Team in the 2012 London Olympics. Where the US won the gold. Iguodala was traded that summer to Denver then eventually landed in Oakland. He was key to the Warriors championship season as a co captain, team leader and all around player. The guy is extremely unselfish and has a high basketball IQ. Down 2-1 in the NBA Finals rookie head coach Steve Kerr inserted Iguodala into the starting lineup vs. Lebron James and Cleveland. Golden State after that move never lost another game again. Winning their 1st NBA title in over 40 years. The guy the was 125 to 1 odd prior to the Finals as far as winning MVP, did just that.

3rd French Open Title & 20th Major Championship For Serena (And Counting...)

20 and counting for Serena Williams. Yes 20 major titles and she's 4 away from tying the all time record for women. Still in her early 30's she's not showing any signs of slowing down none. Not even having the flu during her French Open semifinal match could defeat her. Not even struggling to close out the championship in the 2nd set which forced a 3rd set could defeat her on Saturday in Paris. Serena has already won the Australian Open in 2015 now add the French which is her 3rd overall. Coming up next is Wimbledon in London. Following that is the U.S Open in New York City. Serena Williams has her eyes on sweeping the 2015 Grand Slam. It seems like at this point of her career barring injury Serena only competition is herself. As long as she stays hungry and motivated, the tennis world is at her feet.

American Pharoah Makes History ! Takes Home The Triple Crown !

After 37 years the wait is over. Back in 1978 Affirmed was the last race horse led by jockey Steve Cauthen and trainer Laz Barrera to win the prestigious Triple Crown. Several horses over that time span came close yet no cigar. Here in Philadelphia home of Sports247365 we rooted for Smarty Jones in 2004 and even he came up short at the end during the last leg of the Belmont Stakes. This past month has been history making for the trio of American Pharoah, jockey Victor Espinoza and trainer Bob Baffert. Both jockey and trainer came close on multiple occasion's in previous years yet Saturday at the Preakness, it was like icing on the top. By sweeping the Kentucky Debry, the Preakness and now the Belmont Stakes American Pharoah becomes the 12 race horse since 1919 to win the Triple Crown. The three year old horse won all three races with ease, simply blowing away the competition from start to finish. Ahmed Zayat owns American Pharoah and was extremely happy that his horse could make history.

Ben Bishop Stanley Cup Final Bound Lightning Has Struck

27 year old Denver, Colorado native Ben Bishop is 12-8 through the 1st 3 rounds of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Including a Game 7 win at the Worlds Most Famous Arena of Madison Square Garden. The win in New York City, a shutout by Bishop 2-0 over the Rangers sent the Lightning to their 1st Stanley Cup Final since 2004. 11 years later the Bolts are looking to win their 2nd Stanley Cup in franchise history. The 6'7 net minder recently signed a contract extension to remain with Tampa Bay. Over the past 2 seasons Ben Bishop won 67 regular season games including 40 during the 2014-15 season. The Bolts will take on Chicago starting on Wednesday.

For The 1st Time Since 1994 Air Jordan I Chicago (OG) Is Back

These classic routes dropped this past Saturday on May 29, 2015. The Air Jordan I Chicago (OG) is back for the first time since 1994. I can recall in high school when Micheal Jordan wore these at Madison Square Garden in New York City vs. the Knicks. 1984-85 Air Jordan rookie campaign in Chicago is when these kicks originally came on the scene. 30 years later they are as dope now as they were then. I've always been a fan of most colorways of the original OG Air Jordan I model. They really remind me of the Nike Dunk. Most certainly a classic.

Led By Paul Molitor Could Twins Take Off Like Last Season Royals ?

During the 2014 season the Kansas City Royals captured the hearts of Kansas City, Missouri. The American League Champions also captured just about everyone else's heart outside of the Bay Area. KC fell just short in 7 games vs. San Francisco. However their run which started in the Wild Card round was memorable. 51 games into the 2015 season rookie manager Paul Molitor (1993 World Series MVP with Toronto) has help lead his team to a 31-20 record. That record is currently good enough for a tie with the Kansas City Royals for 1st place in the American League Central. Similar to KC the team from the Twin Cities don't have big name players. Yet what they do have is fundamental baseball on offense and defense. Ricky Nolasco thus far is 5-1, the Twins closer Glen Perkins thus far has 19 saves and a 1.88 ERA. On offense they are led by 2nd baseball Brian Dozier 10 HR's and 26 RBI's. Can the young Twins keep this up and make a playoff push for the duration of the season ?

Harvey & Mets Are Off To A Quick Start This Season

The New York Mets aren't 'Amazing' just yet, however to kick start the 2015 Major League Baseball season they are doing well. The team from Queens are trying to be Kings as they said atop the National League East with a 19-11 record good enough for 3.5 game lead as this blog article is written. Matt Harvey has been his usual All Star self winning 5 straight decisions before suffering his 1st loss this week vs. Cole Hamels and the Phillies. Veteran starter Bartolo Colon is also off to a 5-1 start with his record. Meanwhile Mets closer Jeurys Famila is a the top of the saves department with 12 thus far. Who knows if the New York Mets can qualify for the playoffs at seasons end. However if they can continue to pitch well and mix in timely hitting, they will give themselves the chance to just that. 6 weeks in for a 6 month season.

Young Astros Off To A Solid Start

The 2015 Major League Baseball season is underway. At the time of this blog issue we are six weeks into the season. There's only one team so far with more wins than the Houston Astros. That team would be the St. Louis Cardinals the Running Redbirds are currently 22-8 with a 6.5 game lead in the National League Central. Meanwhile in HTown the Astros currently have the 2nd best record in baseball with a 20-11 record. That's good enough for a 6 game lead in the American League West. It's so surprise for the Cardinals to be playing solid baseball. Meanwhile in Houston many thought this would be a rebuilding year for the young Astros. All Star Jose Altuve is hitting .339 and leads the team with 21 RBI's. Can the young Astros maintain their stellar play and make a post season push ?

Mayweather Out Points Pacquiao Improves To 48-0

Saturday night at the MGM Grand a pair of boxers the world has been waiting to see finally squared off. Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao finally took place. At the end of the night Floyd bested Manny on a unanimous decision. Pacquiao due to Mayweather Jr. jab and defense couldn't let his hands go like he usually do. Manny landed less than one hundred total punches in the 12 round bout. Mayweather Jr. won round and round, he wasn't highly active himself, just was active enough to get the job done. Even Floyd father was upset with him in between rounds for not letting his hands go. Floyd if nothing else fought an excellent strategic fight. Not exciting yet strategic. Mayweather Jr. said after the fight he will fight one more time and that will be in September. No word on what's next for Pac Man at this point.

Which Direction Do The Spurs Go From Here ?

The 6th seeded Spurs took a 3-2 lead into Game 6 Thursday night a home. The Clippers won on the road forcing a Game 7 in Los Angeles on Saturday. The defending champions had been in the last two NBA Finals losing to Miami in 7, then beating Miami in 5. They were my pick to play Cleveland in June. It will not manifest thanks the Chris Paul game winning off balance bank shot over Tim Duncan. The Clippers survived by 2 and advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals. The question is where does the core of the Spurs go from here ? This a franchise that has won 5 NBA Championships since 1999 and been in the Finals 6 times. Obviously father time plays a role with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Also for guys like Kawhi Leonard the defending NBA Finals MVP and Danny Green are free agents. What will the front office of the Spurs do this summer ? What will the veterans decide to do as far as retiring or coming back ? What will Leonard and Green do with free agency knocking at their respective door ? Saturday night could it have been the last time we witnessed the San Antonio core as we know it ? Only time will tell.

Clippers Dethrone Champs In Classic Series

The Clippers are advancing to the Western Conference Semifinals. Veteran Chris Paul battled through a series of hamstring injuries Saturday night at Staples Center. Unfortunately someone had to go home in this first round series. Paul banked home an off balance runner over Tim Duncan with about one second remaining in Game 7. The unquestioned leader of the Clippers willed him team to victory over the defending champions. The veteran Spurs will go home meanwhile the Clippers will move on and travel to Houston. The Rockets will be waiting after they eliminated the Dallas Mavericks earlier in the week. The question will be, can Chris Paul go in Game 1 and if he can how long can he play ? Last season it took at 1st round Game 7 home victory to close out Golden State dejavu.

Warriors/Pelicans Series Will Feature 2 Of The 5 Sports247365 NBA 1st Team+MVP Selections

Anthony Davis and Stephen Curry are creating their own history now that they are in the NBA. Prior years when they were in college they made names for themselves during March Madness. Curry led Davidson on an Elite Eight run back in 2008 before falling to Kansas one game shy of the Final Four from that point on Curry name has been on the map and everyone's radar ! Meanwhile in 2012 freshman Anthony Davis helped lead the Kentucky Wildcats to a National Championship by defeating Kansas in New Orleans at the Final Four. Both players were teammates this past summer on the USA Men's National Team. In this 1 vs. 8 Western Conference playoff series it'll the first time Anthony Davis will play in the NBA Playoffs finally he and the Pelicans will be in the national spotlight. It doesn't get any brighter than taking on the Warriors the squad who posted the best record in the association. Both Golden State and New Orleans will be motivated. The Warriors are looking to advance to the NBA Finals and win a championship. Meanwhile this young New Orleans team has nothing to lose and want to prove they belong. Davis is a tremendous two way player rebounding and blocking shots on defense and on offense able to run the floor even post up then step out while knocking down a jumper. Here at Sports247365 we have the Warriors winning the series in 5 games. Also our 2014-15 All NBA 1st Team Selections are : Stephen Curry, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Lebron James and Anthony Davis. Those names how they are written are also Sports247365 order of MVP candidates one through 5. This Warriors / Pelicans series is the 1st round matchup I'm most intrigued in Clippers/Spurs are 2nd.

Russell Westbrook Incredible Season Ends Short Of Playoff Birth

Multiple triple double games this season for Russell Westbrook. He took home the All Star game MVP earlier this season at Madison Square Garden. He was in the NBA MVP race for quiet sometime with the likes of James Harden and Stephen Curry. He missed several games to start the 2014-15 season due to a hand injury. At the same time reigning league MVP Kevin Durant was out with a foot injury. Later on during the year Durant would be shut down for the season after another surgery to his foot. Westbrook played possessed he tried to keep the Oklahoma City Thunder afloat, he did until the last day. OKC got the win they needed vs. Minnesota, Yet the New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Spurs to capture the final playoff berth in the west. 45-37 record for the Thunder would have got them in the playoffs in the east, since 2 teams will play playoff basketball with under .500 records on that side of the bracket. When healthy as a whole Oklahoma City would have a chance to do playoff damage while contending for a championship. Maybe the best is yet to come for R. Westbrook (individually) and for OKC (as a team) if he and them can stay healthy.

Okafor-Jones-Winslow-They Came-They Saw-They Conquered-Now Time To Get Paid

Jahlil Okafor is from Chicago. His childhood friend Tyus Jones is from Minnesota. Meanwhile Justise Winslow is from Houston. Everyone knew about the big man and point guard they came to Duke as a package deal because of their friendship. However once Rasheed Sulaimon was dismissed from the team another freshman put his imprint on the 2014-15 Duke Blue Devils. That guy was versatile small forward Justise Winslow. His game really picked up during the NCAA Tournament. He showed he could be a solid two way player on offensive and defense. Tyus Jones was steady all season and was able to knock down big jump shots, timely free throws and created for teammates. Coming out of Chicago many predicted Jahlil Okafor as freshman of the year nationally and becoming a lottery pick. Don't expect Okafor to fall out of the top two come draft time in June. Most likely either he or Kentucky's Karl Anthony Towns will become the number one pick during the NBA Draft. Duke cut down the nets for the 5th time in the Coach K era as they beat Wisconsin for the National Championship. Duke has their one and down players just like those guys in Lexington the group that's know as the Kentucky Wildcats.

How Well Did Kentucky Respond After Final 4 Loss

Revenge is best served cold, so they say. Last year the Wisconsin Badgers saw their season end during the National Semifinal round of the 2014 Final Four. Down in Arlington, Texas the Kentucky Wildcats survived by 1 point and advanced to the National Championship game vs. UConn. This season the Wildcats arrived in Indianapolis with a chance to complete an unheard of 40-0 season. Yes they survived some close games this season vs. the likes of LSU, Texas A&M and Georgia. Just to get to the 2015 Final Four they had to battle past a Notre Dame team in Cleveland, that had Kentucky on the ropes. This past Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium Wisconsin held their own. Despite the questionable officiating that worked for and against both teams, Kentucky held a late 4 point lead. Wisconsin was able to respond and deliver the knockout blow to send the Wildcats back to Lexington 38-1. Wisconsin will look to defeat Duke for the National Championship on Monday night. Can the front line of Kaminsky, Dekker and Hayes pull it off ? The belief is if they can beat Kentucky they can beat anyone. Sports is an emotional game, however many of Kentucky players ran off the court Saturday without shaking their opponents hands. That was followed by some negative words that was picked up at the podium during a post game press conference. Obviously after 34 regular season wins and 4 NCAA Tournament wins the Wildcats didn't have a problem shaking hands and watch their words at the podium.

Badgers Make Back To Back Final Fours

Chester native Bo Ryan has led the Wisconsin Badgers to back to back Final Four appearances for the first time in school history. The number one seeded Badgers knocked down clutch 2nd half threes to close out Arizona in the Elite Eight for the second straight season. They will face Kentucky the team they lost to last year in one National Semifinal. Can the Badgers knock of Kentucky to give the Wildcats their first defeat of the season ? The Big Ten regular season champions are the second team in the conference to head to Indianapolis this upcoming weekend. Now Badgers will look to win Saturday night with a chance at a championship on Monday night.

H To The Izzo Leads Spartans To Another Final Four

Saturday night, the Michigan Spartans will be in Big Ten territory. When the seventh seed and East Regional champions take on the Duke Blue Devils. Indianapolis, IN will be the site and every other year it's the city which host the Big Ten tournament. Coach Izzo and his group of kids made a great run in their conference tournament. They had a chance to win the championship vs. Wisconsin however came up short at the end. Many believe they were under seeded as a seven seed. Personally had them in Elite 8 prior to NCAA's starting once and Villanova lost in round of 32 (once again) to N.C State, Michigan St. took care of two seed Virginia, I felt the Spartans were Final Four bound. Sunday afternoon they were able to gut out an overtime victory vs. Louisville in Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. They will take on the Duke Blue Devils to tip off the Final Four on Saturday.

Kentucky Headed To Indianapolis For History Lesson

38-0 Kentucky will head to Indianapolis looking for that perfect 40-0 season. If that mission is accomplished Kentucky will become the first NCAA team in which to do so. Saturday night in Cleveland vs. Notre Dame, the Wildcats barely escaped with a win they were close to being 37-1. However down the stretch Big Blue Nation came away with a two point victory vs. the Fighting Irish. Coach Calipari is leading Kentucky to consecutive Final Fours and looking to win their first National Championship since 2012. Last year Kentucky lost the National Title game to the UConn Huskies at AT&T Stadium. Saturday night they will tip 30 minutes after Duke/Michigan State concludes. Wisconsin will be the opponent their same opponent from the National Semifinal a year ago. The Wildcats will need to do what they do best to eventually cut down the nets by defending and executing in the post. At this point only Saturday and Monday nights respectively stand in the way of history when it comes to 40-0. Last team to enter the Final Four undefeated were the 1990-91 UNLV Running Rebels.

Coach K Headed To 12th NCAA Final Four

Duke is headed to Indianapolis for next weeks Final Four. The Blue Devils defeated Gonzaga in Houston during the South Regional Final on Sunday. It was the number one seeded Blue Devils vs. the number two seeded Bulldogs. Duke didn't win the ACC regular season title (Virgina) or the ACC tournament title (Notre Dame), however they will be playing into the final weekend of the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Yes guys like Jahlil Okafor, Justise Winston, Tyus Jones and Quin Cook get all the buzz. However on Sunday Matt Jones was the unsung hero knocking down multiple three point jump shots. All season long Philadelphia native Amile Jefferson has been a glue guy. Now he will have a chance to play on the biggest stage of college basketball. For the record : Coach K tied John Wooden for the most NCAA Final Four appearances with 12. Next up for Duke will be a matchup with Michigan State. They'll tip from Lucas Oil Stadium at 6:09 pm Saturday night. With a chance of playing for everything on Monday night.

Concrete Charlie Passes Away

On March 21, 2015 the Philadelphia Eagles and NFL community were notified Chuck Bednarik passed away at the age of 89. He is most known for knocking New York Giants halfback Frank Gifford out at Yankee Stadium late in the 1960 NFL season. The hit caused a fumble which the Eagles recovered and wrapped up the victory for Philadelphia. Bednarik was from Bethleham, PA and was a scholar where he attended the University of Pennsylvania. He helped lead the Philadelphia Eagles to 1948 and 1960 NFL Championships. At age 35 in 1960 due to injuries Concrete Charlie also played offense as a center and of course linebacker on defense. He was truly the last of 60 minute men in the NFL. Chuck Bednarik also participated in World War II. I guess he was would you call a renaissance man. His number 60 retired jersey hangs high atop Lincoln Finacial Field. He is considered one of the greatest Philadelphia Eagles ever, if not the greatest of all time. 54 years and counting since the franchise won a championship. As Bednarik would make the final tackle at Franklin Field to secure the 1960 title vs. Green Bay. May Chuck Bednarik rest in peace.

Could Phillies Cliff Lee Career Be Over Despite 60 Day DL ?

This is Cliff Lee 2nd life with the Phillies. In 2009 Cleveland traded Lee to Philadelphia.
Lee helped Philadelphia win their 2nd consecutive National League Pennant. Lee picked up the Phillies only 2 wins during their 4-2 2009 World Series defeat to the New York Yankees. The Phillies that fall fell short in trying to become the first National League team since the Big Red Machine of Cincinnati won back to back World Series titles. The Phillies would trade Cliff Lee to Texas in 2010. As he would help the Rangers win the American League Pennant however they would lose to San Francisco in the World Series. The Phillies bring Cliff Lee back in 2011 via a trade with Seattle. Philadelphia was the World Series favorite winning over 100 games in the regular season. They would lose in the Divisional Round 3-2 after dropping Game 5 at home vs. St. Louis 1-0. The Cardinals would go on to win it all. Cliff Lee with the Phillies up in the series 1-0, took to the mound in Game 2. Philadelphia gave him a 4-0 lead that he would give back and St. Louis evened the series. Seemed like the Phillies were never able to recover from the moment 1-1 series tied instead on 2-0 heading back to the Midwest. The aging Lee has dealt with arm issues the past 2 seasons. In his elbow area, which wouldn't allow Philadelphia to trade him to a contender last season, eventually he had to shut it down. In Clearwater, FL he has been shut down during spring training. He has more pain in that elbow area. He mentioned if he has to have another surgery he would retire. Lee will start the 2015 season on the 60 day DL. If about 6-7 months of recovery time couldn't solve the arm issues what will 2-3 do in order to help ? Could it really be over for Lee ? The Phillies saw Roy Halladay career in a New York minute with arm issues.

#1 Villanova Couldn't Wright It's Wrong In The Round Of 32 Again Wolf Pack Advance

Last year Buffalo, NY was the site 2nd seed Villanova would lose to UConn the eventual National Champion in the Round of 32. Saturday night Pittsburgh, PA was the site where Villanova would lose to NC State 71-68 in the round of 32. Becoming the first 1 seed to be eliminated from the 2015 NCAA Tournament. That defeat only adds to the scars of not advancing to the 2nd weekend of the NCAA's, since the Wildcats made it to the 2009 Final Four. Give NC State all the credit the 8th seed in the East out played Nova all night. They represented the ACC well against the Big East best in terms of regular season and conference tournament play. Villanova season will end at 33-3 & 16-2 in conference play. Meanwhile the 22-13 Wolf Pack and their 10-8 conference record will move on to Syracuse, NY. The Sweet 16 awaits the team from Raleigh. Meanwhile the Wildcats will head back to the Main Line as seniors Darrun Hillard II and JayVaughn Pinkston saw their careers end. Huge double double games for NC State front court players Lennard Freeman and Abdul-Malik Abu. Meanwhile on the perimeter the likes of Cat Barber and Trevor Lacey held their own. You live and die with the jump shot and the 3 point attempts and that's what happened to Nova Nation on Saturday. Also their interior weakness in terms of lack of depth was exposed. This is the beauty of March for some and agony of defeat for others.

The Bulls Are Physically Breaking Down Can They Recover ?

We already know the past history of Derrick Rose and his unfortunate series of knee injuries. About 2 weeks ago Rose suffered another knee injury another Mencius tear. Rose had a procedure done. D. Rose and the Bulls believe he'll be back for the Eastern Conference playoffs. Now fellow All Star Jimmy Butler who's having a career year will miss some time due to injury. Team leader Joakim Noah is playing through pain as well. Meanwhile the front office and head coach Tom Thibodeau aren't seeing eye to eye. The team acquire All Star Pau Gasol this off season and this Bulls team was thought to have it's best offensive team around Rose to seriously contend for a NBA title. However this team is struggling to stay on the floor together and more importantly healthy. Currently the Bulls are a top 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, it will be interesting to see if these group of Bulls can return to full health. To give themselves a chance to actually get out of the East and advance to the NBA Finals. Instead of injuries derailing that opportunity.

MCW Traded Blessing In Disguise To Link Up With J. Kidd

The reigning NBA Rookie Of The Year was traded from Philadelphia to Milwaukee. It was one of the final trades made before the NBA trade deadline. The second year point guard Michael Carter Williams now will link up with future Hall Of Fame ex point guard now Bucks head coach Jason Kidd. At 6'4 Kidd was a walking triple double and at 6'6 MCW now has the ability to be a walking triple double. Carter Williams was used to winning at Syracuse helping lead the Orange to a 2012 Final Four berth. Now Philadelphia plan is to purposely lose aka 'tank' to acquire draft picks and assets. Michael was now longer part of the plans in Philadelphia. However their are several young pieces in Milwaukee that will grow with MCW. He'll also have a chance to experience the post season this spring. Win lose or draw it'll be a learning experience for the Bucks. The best is yet to come for this young point guard and these young Bucks as well.
