Yes 1992 Dream Team Is Better However 2012 World Competition Is Better

1992 Dream Team vs. 2012 USA Men's Basketball Team...Who's better ? Dream Team, you know why : size is a factor and just from the size alone 1992 team better than 2012 squad. Since Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh and most recently Blake Griffin are out with injuries, the only legitimate big man for team 2K12 is Tyson Chandler and he's very lean. 1992 front line : Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, David Robinson and Patrick Ewing would simply be too much on the interior for this team. The advantage the 2012 USA Men's Basketball team has, is the World competition is so much better now then it was it 1992. 20 years later thanks to the Dream Team, players around the world wanted to play basketball, they also are much better. 2012 team must face better players and better teams compared to 1992. Several players from opposing teams played college basketball in the United States or were drafted by NBA teams or have played for NBA teams or will be playing for NBA teams, some players have played in the NBA Playoffs, NBA Finals, NBA All Star Game, also a few have become NBA Champions. So the margin of victory for the Dream Team will not ever be the same for the 2012 USA Men's Basketball Team or beyond. In Barcelona Drazen Petrovic was already in the NBA for New Jersey, Toni Kukoc was coming to play for the Bulls and a few years later Arvydas Sabonis would play for Portland. Fast forward to 2012 London Olympics, Spain has : Pau and Marc Gasol, Pau has played in 3 NBA Finals winning 2, both brothers have been NBA All Stars, they also have Defensive Player Of Year Serge Ibaka from the Western Conference Champion Oklahoma City Thunder. Host country Great Britain has All Star Luol Deng from the Chicago Bulls. China even without Yao Ming have Dallas Mavericks free agent Yi Jianlian and former NBA player Wang Zhizhi. Russia is led by AK47 Andrei Kirilenko former Utah Jazz and two other NBA players. NBA champion teammates on the Spurs each lead their teams Tony Parker for France and Manu Ginobli for Argentina.

2012 Phillies Or 2011 Eagles Which Team Season Was More Disappointing

Philadelphia fans historically have suffered, a combined 6 championships (2 Stanley Cups - 2 NBA Championships - 2 World Series - 0 Superbowls) from their 4 major sports teams : Flyers, 76ers, Phillies and Eagles. Leading up to the 2011 NFL season they Eagles were supposed to be the team to beat. With all the free agent veterans they signed and trades they made, Philadelphia was supposed to at least get to Superbowl XLVI. Instead they opened the season 1-4 never recovered, after 12 games were 4-8, before winning their final four contest to go into the off season 8-8. The 'Dream Team' watched their rivals from the New Jersey Turnpike, the New York Football Giants win their 2nd Superbowl in 5 seasons and 4th overall in franchise history. Turnovers on offense, un able to get off the field on 3rd down on defense along with horrific red zone defense help lead to the Eagles most disappointing season in quite sometime. The Phillies came into 2012 knowing they wouldn't have Ryan Howard and Chase Utley for awhile due to respective Achilles and knee injuries. Their teammates would need to hold the fort down until the 3/4 hitters in the Philadelphia lineup returned. Lets say the bullpen has blown late leads and on a consistent basis haven't been able to keep Phillies at a one run deficit to allow the offense to come back late in games. Yes guys like Halladay, Lee, Worley, Polanco etc...have spent time on the DL, however that's no excuse for the Phillies performance on defense and on offense with RISP. Last week the Phillies swept the Brewers to climb 9.5 games of a Wildcard, they would go on a 6 game road trip to Atlanta and Washington needing to go 5-1 or 4-2. Atlanta swept Philadelphia for the 2nd time this season, meanwhile the Braves are 7-2 vs. Phillies this season and Philadelphia is 11-25 vs. NL East competition. Part of the reason with the trade deadline approaching, it could be a yard sale. Philadelphia is 16.5 games back on division leading Washington and 12.5 games back of a Wildcard with 60 games left, their record is 45-57 only 5 teams in all of baseball have less victories. The streak of 5 consecutive NL East titles are just about over, ditto for consecutive playoff appearances. Fans of Philadelphia are thankful for the 2008 World Series title, the first the city had since the 1983 76ers. However they feel with this current payroll which includes a new Cole Hamels contract, another World Series title is needed after 2 pennants over the past 5 years, which included losing to the last two World Series champions in the 2011 NLDS vs. Cardinals and 2010 NLCS vs. Giants. Hey, it's always sunny in Philadelphia !

NCAA Hands Penn State It's Punishment & Paterno Statue Removed

Over the weekend, Joe Paterno's statue outside of Beaver Stadium was removed. The statue had been in front of the stadium since 2001. Now the NCAA has handed down sanctions to Penn State regarding former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky child molestation conviction and cover up by Joe Paterno, along with the Penn State brass. Some of those punishments will include a loss in scholarships, a 4 year bowl ban, and millions of dollars in which the university will have to dish out to various organizations. Joe Paterno will no longer be the all time winningest football coach, Eddie Robinson the former Grambling head coach regains that title. NCAA are taking wins away from Penn State since 1998. Obviously the NCAA is upset, Penn State brass including JoePa put the football program over the victims. Which allowed more individuals to become victims.

Grambling State Eddie Robinson Once Again All Time Winningest Football Coach

Eddie Robinson coached Grambling State University from 1941 to 1997 a span of 57 years. Eddie Robinson passed away April 3, 2007, he was born February 13, 1919. Until this past Fall, Robinson was the NCAA all time winningest coach, until Joe Paterno passed him. Fast forward to July 23, 2012 Eddie Robinson is once again the all time winningest coach. Why ? NCAA sanctions handed down to Penn State include they must vacate wins dating back to 1998. Robinson and Paterno are both deceased. Obviously Penn State has so much more to worry about besides a coaching record. Meanwhile Robinson is back on top and kudos to him Grambling State, also the HBCU family.

Boston Celtics 2012 NBA Draft Selections Are Impressive

Coming off a grueling seven game series defeat to the eventual NBA Champion Miami Heat, Boston had an excellent NBA Draft. Ohio State All American power forward Jared Sullinger due to reports of a bad back, led to his draft stock falling. Celtics would go on to select Sullinger and Syracuse shot blocking center Thad Melo with back to back first round picks. Then in round two the Boston Celtics would select Kris Joseph from Syracuse as well, Joseph had a solid career for the Orange at the small forward position. Since the draft Boston lost Ray Allen to the Miami Heat, yet they added Jason Terry from the Dallas Mavericks. While Kevin Garnett opted not to retire and sign a multi year deal. Now the Celtics will go into the 2012-13 NBA season with a mixture of veterans and youth.

76ers All Star Andre Iguodala Named To All Nike USA Men's Basketball Team

Kevin Love, Andre Iguodala, James Harden, Tyson Chandler, Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Deron Williams and Chris Paul will represent the United States Men's Basketball team in London, during the 2012 Summer Olympics. Dre, James, and Kevin were the last three selections, they beat out Rudy Gay, Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon. Gordon was the lone non Nike athlete in the USA Training Camp in Las Vegas, Eric wears Adidas. 2008 Olympic players : Wade, Bosh aren't available due to injury, ditto for Adidas atheletes Howard and Rose. Iguodala made his first All Star Game this past season in Philadelphia. Dre help lead the 76ers out the first round for the first time since 2003 and took the Celtics to a 7th game in round two. Now AI9 becomes the first Sixers Olympic representative in 20 years, when Charles Barkley was on the Dream Team. Barkley was traded to Phoenix shortly after, the irony is Dre for the past 2-3 seasons has been the subject of trade rumors in Philadelphia as well. The talent evaluators of USA Basketball took notice of his 2010 World Championship of Basketball performance and what he does for his team in Philadelphia. He's an excellent on ball defender and unselfish offensive player.

Nike Dunk vs. Nike Air Force One : Pick A Side Which Do You Prefer

Nike produced the Air Force 1 in 1982. Nike produced the Dunk in 1985. During the year 2000 especially in the Hip Hop world Nike Air Force 1 made a comeback, especially the low top edition. Nelly even recorded a song and video called 'Air Force 1's'. Personally never owned a pair of Air Force 1 sneakers. I've always been a huge fan of Dunk sneakers. My favorite version of the Dunk are the Syracuse University inspired Orange and White colorway. Sneakerheads out there, what's your preference : Nike Air Force 1 or Nike Dunk ? The original Nike Air Jordan 1 actually have a Nike Dunk look and feel. Both AF1 and Dunk sneakers will always remain classics.

NFL Top 100 List Eli Manning Deserves To Be In Top 10 List With Rodgers Brees Brady

NFL Network just conducted a top 100 list of the best NFL players. NFL players voted on their peers. Many believe after seeing the final list plenty of the voting came from results of the 2011 NFL season. When it comes to the quarterback position, I halfway disagree. I agree with Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Tom Brady being in the top three, order doesn't really matter, it depends on who you ask, where they fall in rank wise. The issue I have is Eli Manning coming in 30th. They guy is coming off his second Superbowl victory in four years over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. That alone has to count for something, two Superbowls he's out duel Brady. Yes Brady has been to 5 Superbowls after winning his 1st 3, he has loss his last 2. We all know who those last 2 losses are to. Back and the ranch...Eli Manning in the NFC Divisionals Playoffs went into Green Bay and beat a 15-1 Packers team led by Aaron Rodgers 37-20 in route to Indianapolis for the Superbowl. Eli Manning deserves to be in the top five, he very well could be number one, either way he should be higher. More playoff wins and Superbowls than Brees as well and doesn't play in a dome 8 games a year. Give the man in New York City some respect.

Dwight Carmelo CP3 The List Goes On & On NBA Players Demanding Trades

Dwight Howard aka Superman is the latest NBA superstar who is demanding a trade ! In previous years point guard Chris Paul requested a trade from the New Orleans Hornets, by the way he got his wish ending up with the Los Angeles Clippers prior to the 2011-12 NBA season. About two years ago Carmelo Anthony informed the Denver Nuggets he wanted to be traded and he would not resign with the Nuggets as a free agent. Melo was eventually dealt to the New York Knicks. Prior to season ending back surgery this past season Howard was a season long distraction to the team. Rumors stated he wanted head coach Stan Van Gundy fired, if the team wanted him to remain in Orlando. Well after the season Van Gundy was relieved of his duties. During the season Howard finally agreed not to opt out of his contract. Now that the off season is offically here, guess what Dwight now wants to be traded. He want's the trade to one team and one team only : the Brooklyn Nets. The nerve of the modern NBA player he not only wants to be traded, most of the time these superstars demand their destination as well ! As great as Howard, Paul and Anthony are, they have combined for 0, I repeat 0 NBA titles and 1 NBA Finals appearance. CP3 to his credit has help turn the LA Clippers around leading them to the post season and helping them advance to the Western Conference Semifinals. Melo has helped New York get back to the playoffs, however they still have not won a playoff series in over a decade, meanwhile vs. Miami they just picked up their 1st playoff win, I said 1st playoff win in over a decade. Dwight helped lead Orlando to the 2009 NBA Finals. It will be an interesting off season for Howard to say the least.
