How Does Derrick Rose ACL Injury Affect The NBA Playoffs

Late in the 4th quarter as Derrick Rose went down in pain untouched, their was a possibly the 2012 NBA Playoffs could change. Chicago the Eastern Conference number one seed, defeated Philadelphia the Eastern Conference number eight seed. Rose was in the game lead as Chicago was leading by double digits, moments away from a 1-0 series lead in round one. After the game an MRI confirmed Rose had a torn ACL, done for the playoffs. The reigning MVP missed several games this season due to many injuries. Along with Miami, Chicago was a favorite to come out the Eastern Conference. Will Philadelphia be able to capitalize on the Rose injury the remainder of the series ? Even if the Bulls advance can they still represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals ? The next few weeks several questions will be answered. Hopefully whenever Rose returns during the 2012-13 NBA season, he won't lose any of the speed that makes him the special player that he is. The injury is truly unfortunate for Rose, the city of Chicago, the Bulls organization and the NBA.

Did You Ever Lace Up A Pair Of Starbury Sneakers Or Rock The Apparel

September 2006 was the year and $14.99 sneakers and lower price apparel was the concept. Introduced by then NBA star and current International player Stephon Marbury. Marbury originally signed with And1 after being drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves. I personally never owned a pair of Starbury sneakers, however I did patronize his business with a Starbury hoodie. Starbury gear was sold in Steve and Barry, the store like Starbury company are no longer in business, well at least not in the United States. Marbury wanted to make sneakers affordable for parents and kids. He knew a family really couldn't afford the near or triple digit prices of other footwear companies. Ben Wallace another NBA All Star would go on to endorse Starbury for a brief period of time. Starbury still has an open and running website where select merchandise can be purchased.

ACC Boys Grant Hill & Jerry Stackhouse Tried To Put Fila On The Map In The 1990's

Grant Hill and Jerry Stackhouse had more in common than just playing basketball in the ACC. Hill played for Duke, while Stackhouse played for rival UNC. Both players even played for the Detroit Pistons early on during their NBA careers. Hill arrived in the NBA in 1994, Fila laced Grant with his own signature shoe. Stackhouse would arrive in the NBA in 1995, Fila laced Jerry with his own signature shoe. During the mid 90's outside of Nike, Fila was competing with the likes of Reebok and Adidas. Neither Hill or Stackhouse lived up to their potential in the NBA, mainly due to injuries. Hill is currently the oldest player in the league, however he's productive and more importantly a leader for the Phoenix Suns. Fila geared both player sneakers toward the youth. Several elementary, middle school and high school students wore Fila's endorsed by Grant and Jerry. However the company in recent years has not been in the basketball sneaker game. Other companies such as Under Armor along with Asian sneaker companies have come along and prior to those companies And1 made a splash during the early 2000's.

Magic's Dodgers Off To Fast Start While Leading NL West

During spring training 2012, former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Magic Johnson was part of an investment group, that purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lead by the likes of Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier the Dodgers lead the NL West during the start of the 2012 MLB season with a 10-3 record. The mark has them tied with the Washington Nationals for the best record in the National League. The Dodgers are also tied for the second best record currently in baseball. The team also returns reigning Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw. Excellent start for the Dodgers. They were under a black cloud the last few seasons due to previous owner Frank McCourt financial woes, during his divorce which spilled into the media.

Pat Summitt Retires As Lady Vols Head Coach

Pat Summitt, began coaching at the University of Tennessee in 1974, 38 years later in 2012 she will be retiring from the game of basketball. The Hall of Fame coach has won more college basketball games than any other men's or women's head coach. 1,098 victories is the bar Pat set. I'm sure fans and supporters will miss Summitt, while they want her to take care of herself as best as she can since being diagnosed with dementia. The disease causes memory loss. Along with winning 8 National Championships at Tennessee, Pat Summitt has won several gold medals on the international Olympic level as well for USA Women's Basketball. Summitt was a fiery, loving, competitive coach. Who ultimately wanted to win, wanted nothing but the best for her team and the University of Tennessee.

SF Giants Can't Catch A Break Losing Posey In 2011 And Wilson In 2012

Catcher Buster Posey and Closer Brian Wilson helped the San Francisco Giants cap a story book 2010 season by winning the franchise first World Series in San Francisco since moving from New York. Fast forward to 2011 and 2012 the dream has now become a nightmare. The Giants would lose Posey for most of 2011 after he tried to block the plate and broke his leg, now that he's back in 2012, the Giants may lose Brian Wilson for the remainder of the season with an elbow injury. When it rains it pours. It'll be interesting to see how long Wilson will remain out and how will it affect the Giants bullpen.
