Jim Calhoun Retires As UConn Head Coach

At the age of 70, the man that put UConn basketball on the map : Jim Calhoun has retired. Let's see Calhoun led the Huskies to 3 National Titles most recently in 2011. Also Calhoun led Connecticut to 7 Big East Tournament Championships. Jim Calhoun was hired by the University of Connecticut in 1986 coming from Northeastern University. Shortly after his hiring, Jim was able to make UConn a noticeable team in the Big East Conference along with Syracuse, Georgetown, St. Johns and Villanova. Ray Allen, Caron Butler, Rip Hamilton, Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon, Kemba Walker are just a few of Calhoun former Huskie players that have gone on to play in the NBA. For the present moment, former UConn point guard Kevin Ollie has been named head coach, moving up from his assistant coach position.
