Tuesday June 2ND, 2010 simply another AL Central game between Cleveland Indians & Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Tigers starting pitcher Armando Galarraga was on the mound, Galarraga was the team opening day pitcher as well. 28 year old native of Venezuela was acquire in February 2008 with a career record of 21-18 & 4.50ERA. However Galarraga begun to retire one Indians hitter after another. There has already been a pair of perfect games this season MLB 19th & 20th respectively from a historic standpoint. Roy Halladay of Philadelphia Phillies was perfect last Saturday while pitching in Miami vs. Marlins. Dallas Braden of Oakland reached perfection 20 days prior. 8 2/3 innings of perfect pitching for Armando ruined on one play as first base umpire
Jim Joyce called Indian Jason Donald safe on a bang bang play. Clearly replay showed Galarraga beat Donald to the first base bag after receiving the throw from Miguel Cabrera the Tigers first basemen. Fans couldn't believe the obvious missed call, Tigers announcers couldn't believe the missed call as well. Joyce apologized after the game, one in which Detroit won after following batter was retired. Commissioner Bud Selig said the call will stand and he will not overturn the safe call. This has triggered major conversation this week throughout the country via sports talk radio and sports television shows.
