Falcons Felt The Boston Massacre
Superbowl LI is the first of many. For the first time in Superbowl history a game went to overtime. New England won the coin toss, elected to receive with all the momentum. The Atlanta defense could not seem to get a stop in overtime. A made field goal would have kept the game alive. However Patriots running back James White would have none of that. His goal to go touchdown run won the game and capped an historic Superbowl comeback. 28-3 to start the 4th quarter the Falcons held a 25 point lead. The Patriots capped obviously the largest comeback in Superbowl history. Several plays helped contribute to both teams rise and decline. Turnovers, sacks, penalties, spectacular receptions, missed interceptions all played a role for both teams. The result the 5th Superbowl in Patriots franchise history. Tom Brady won another Superbowl MVP. Meanwhile the Falcons let it slip away, which would have been their 1st Superbowl in franchise history. Which would have capped a NFL MVP season by quarterback Matt Ryan. While they are celebrating in New England, it stings in Atlanta not just the defeat, yet how they loss. One tough historical pill to swallow.
