Peyton Out Plays Tom Broncos Advance To Superbowl XLVIII
Sunday afternoon in Denver, the Broncos took on the Patriots for the second time this season. Earlier this season in Foxborough the Patriots would comeback from a 24 point deficit to beat the Broncos in overtime. However during the regular season Denver managed to hold off New England by one game to get the AFC #1 seed for home field advantage. The 2013-14 AFC Championship Game would mark the 15th time Tom Brady and Peyton Manning would square off. Coming into the game Brady held a 10-4 lead. The contest on Sunday would mark the third time the pair have met in the AFC Title Game, they were tied 1-1. The Broncos were coming off a record breaking season on offense and wanted to revenge the Divisional round loss a season ago to Baltimore. Meanwhile the Patriots wanted to get back to the Superbowl after losing to those same Ravens in the AFC Championship Game a season ago. Manning on Sunday completed 32 of 43 passes for 400 yards and 2 touchdowns. Meanwhile Brady went 24 for 38 with 277 yards and 1 touchdown. Manning completed throw after throw as his Broncos never trailed. Brady with all the money on the table missed throw after throw throughout the day. Denver would win the AFC and advance to Superbowl XLVIII by a score of 26-16. As sports fans we don't know due to Peyton Manning neck, which he will have checked out at season end, if Sunday was the final battle between the legendary quarterbacks.
