NFC Divisional Playoffs Rematch Weekend
Earlier this season the NFC South champion Carolina Panthers went to San Francisco and took on the defending NFC champion 49ers. What we all ended up viewing was a defensive slug fest, a contest the Panthers won over the 49ers 10-9. Only 1 combined touchdown was scored between the 2 teams. Sunday San Francisco will travel to Charlotte, NC to take on Carolina. It's the rubber match game to decide who will move on to the NFC Championship Game next Sunday. Carolina is coming off a bye week, meanwhile the 49ers went into frigid Lambeau Field and came out with a 23-20 win. Dating back to the 2012 regular season (playoffs included) SF has knocked off Green Bay 4 straight times. Colin Kapernick and his 49ers are a slight favorite heading into the game Sunday vs. Cam Newton and the Panthers. It will be interesting to see how healthy Panthers WR Steve Smith will be after suffering a knee injury in a late season win over New Orleans. On the other side of the bracket fresh off their 1st road playoff win in franchise history, the Saints take on the Seahawks. Seattle has home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. They are well rested after a bye week. Meanwhile New Orleans is looking for revenge after their blow out loss earlier this season in Seattle. My picks : Carolina & Seattle to win and meet next weekend for the right to play in Superbowl XLVIII. However I wouldn't be shocked if the 49ers pulled the victory out on the road.
