Kirk Gibson Possible Choice For NL Manager Of The Year
Kirk Gibson will always be remembered for his classic World Series home run for the Los Angeles Dodgers. During that 1988 season Kirk Gibson was named NL MVP. However, Gibson never made an All Star appearance. The Arizona Diamondbacks named Gibson interm manager in October 2010, shortly after he became the full time manager of the Diamondbacks. Coming into 2011, many believed the World Series champion San Francisco Giants were selected to win the NL West. Few baseball experts talked about Arizona in terms of winning the division. Arizona opened up the 2011 season slowly, now they have turned it up, playing excellent baseball. Manager Kirk Gibson has positioned himself as a candidate for NL Manger Of The Year. The Diamondbacks has surpassed the Giants as the top team in the standings within the NL West. San Francisco traded for Carlos Beltran and currently are in second place.
