Northwestern hosted Illinois in an instate Big Ten battle, not in Evanston, but at Wrigley Field. In college football it was the weekend of games being played in baseball stadiums. New Yankee Stadium was the host of Army vs. Notre Dame. It was a flashback to old school college football that was played in the original Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field. It was similar to the current Winter Classic on New Years Day as NHL teams play in a football or baseball stadium odors. Yankee Stadium will actually play host to a bowl game this upcoming bowl season. Clearly their was more room for football at the newer stadium in New York opposed to the veteran Stadium in Chicago. Northwestern and Illinois could only drive on offense in one direction, due to the fact the other direction was close to a brick wall. Nevertheless brick wall or lack of space, the game was enjoyable for fans players and those involved covering the game. This was a great idea by the NCAA, hopefully fans will get more of these venues during upcoming seasons.
