So Long Sochi USA Men's Hockey Go Quietly Without A Medal
The United States Men's Hockey team steam rolled to the knockout round by posting a 3-0 record. Which included a shootout win vs. Russia the 2014 Winter Olympics host nation. Rewind back to 2010 in Vancouver during the Winter Olympics the United States lost a late lead in the Gold Medal game vs. Canada. The final result would be a Canadian win in overtime vs. the Americans. After 4 years of waiting America had it's chance at revenge against Canada. It would be the semifinal round in Sochi where the United States would lose a 1-0 contest to team Canada. Putting the Canadians in the Gold Medal game which they ultimately won. Team USA would have to settle for the Bronze Medal game vs. Finland. USA found themselves down 2-0 and would eventually lose 5-0 as they exit Sochi without a medal. Shutout in back to back games by a combined total of 7-0. True disappointment not to medal in Sochi after the fast tournament start. Another disappointment vs. the Canadians their number one nemesis. 34 years and counting since the 1980 USA won the Gold Medal in Men's Hockey.
