The first legitimate move of the major league off season took place at the Winter Meetings this past week. Jason Werth the former Philadelphia Phillies All-Star outfielder, has inked a 7 year $126 million deal with the Washington Nationals. Super agent Scott Boras helped Werth with negotiating the mega deal. How good will the Nationals be in 2011? How much will the Phillies miss the power right handed hitting bad in their left handed lineup? The pair of National League East opponents will square off 18 times next season. According to Werth he felt unwanted, even with the Phillies attempt to make a deal and offer arbritration. Clearly Philadelphia didn't offer enough years or money and Washington did. The 31 year old Werth has clearly set himself and his family up for life.
