Easter Sunday 2010 or 4/4/10, historic day in Philadelphia Eagles history. Donovan McNabb 2ND selection 1999 NFL Draft was dealt to Washington Redskins for 2010 2ND Round selection and future picks as well. Since the regular season and NFC Wild Card losses at Dallas in consecutive weeks this past January, trade rumors have squired around the franchise quarterback. Finally Sunday a deal was made, not Buffalo, nor Cleveland, or Oakland, however it was Eagles NFC East Division rival Washington Redskins. Donovan will bring his 92 - 49 - 1 career regular season record, 9-7 postseason record, 32,873 passing yards & 216 touchdowns to Washington. Former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan coached John Elway during back to back Superbowl's to complete a Hall of Fame career, will look to do the same with McNabb. Redskins have also acquired former Steelers running back Willie Parker and former Chiefs running back Larry Johnson. McNabb will have an opportunity to play Philadelphia and former coach Andy Reid twice a season. Eagles have named 4Th year veteran Kevin Kolb starting quarterback, other youthful offensive talent will include wide receivers Desean Jackson & Jeremy Maclin, running back Shady McCoy and tight end Brent Celek. Philadelphia clearly are moving in a younger direction by trading McNabb & Sheldon Brown two days apart, while releasing Brian Westbrook earlier this off season as well as other veteran players. With McNabb still within NFC East will the trade help the Redskins reach the postseason and improve on their lone playoff victory since 2000 ? Will the Eagles suffer or take off with McNabb exiting Philadelphia, with the draft a few weeks away, we'll see this upcoming 2010 season. When the teams link up twice no pun intended at Lincoln Financial Field & Fed Ex Field it'll be must see TV. In Washington will Jason Campbell remain a Redskin or will he be dealt, former McNabb teammate Terrell Owens is also a free agent, it would be interesting to see if Washington will bring in the receiver to play along side Donovan once again, they'll look to address their offensive line need with the 4Th overall selection in the NFL Draft. McNabb clearly along with Reid didn't win the Superbowl in Philadelphia, winning 5 division titles, appearing in 5 NFC Championship Games, Superbowl XXXIX, however when the money was on the table in NFL final two rounds they were a combined 1 - 5, that's what the pair coach and quarterback who came to Philadelphia in 1999 will be remembered by. However McNabb exits and Reid remains after signing a three year contract extension, Washington will look to speak with McNabb and his agent regarding an extension as well. Plenty of Eagles fans have been asking for a quarterback change initially A.J Feeley, Jeff Garcia, now they have it with Kevin Kolb. The saying is be careful what you wish for. McNabb has a new team, fresh start and a fan base, most of which is excepting him with open arms, more importantly motivation from within, after an organization he spend eleven seasons with going from 3-13, 5-11 to one of NFL best franchise, finally traded him.
