Week 3 Thursday Night Football in Philadelphia is more than just a game. The Eagles (1-1) host the Chiefs (2-0). During the off season Philadelphia hired University of Oregon head coach Chip Kelly to replace Andy Reid. Reid was unemployed less than a month before he was hired to take over the 2-14 Kansas City Chiefs. While Reid was in Philadelphia for 14 seasons, Donovan McNabb was there for 11 seasons. McNabb on Easter Sunday was traded to Washington in 2010, he played one season in DC and another in Minnesota. Now McNabb covers football. Reid & McNabb, McNabb & Reid the two will be forever linked for better or for worse. Andy Reid took McNabb with the 2nd pick of the 1999 NFL Draft. Rookie coach, rookie quarterback would eventually go on to turn a 5-11 team into Superbowl contenders. Unfortunately the team was so close, just couldn't close the deal in terms of a World Championship. Several NFC East titles, a plethora of playoff wins, 5 NFC Championship Game appearances and 1 Superbowl appearance. During halftime of Eagles vs. Chiefs McNabb will have in number retired. Reid on the other hand will be in the visiting locker room at Lincoln Financial Field for the 1st time. However several of his ex Eagles players who reside in the area will be in attendance. Andy Reid also took several of the staff he worked with in Philadelphia to join his in Kansas City, even signed a few of his free agent Eagles players. It's like the Philadelphia Eagles of the Midwest in some ways.
