Colin Kaepernick + Alex Smith Lead 49ers To 2012 Road Wins @ Lambeau Field + Gillette Stadium
San Francisco was coming off a fantastic 2011 NFL season led by 1st year head coach Jim Harbaugh. The 49ers went on to win the NFC West, defeat the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Playoffs before falling to the New York Giants in the NFC Championship Game. They would look at the 2012 NFL schedule and see road games in Green Bay and New England. Rewind to September during Week 1, the 49ers led by Alex Smith went into Lambeau Field and left with a win over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Week 15 the 49ers held off a huge Patriots comeback from Tom Brady and left Gillette Stadium with a victory led by young quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Around the NFL those are a pair of tough places to win for NFC and AFC road teams yet the 49ers with two different quarterbacks playing two different styles were able to take care of business in those venues. San Francisco is currently positioned for a #2 seed again for the 2nd consecutive postseason, which comes with a bye week. Could the 49ers represent the NFC in New Orleans during the Superbowl in February ? Only time will tell.
