Lakers Weekend : Brown Out D'Antoni Not Jackson In !
Lakers began the weekend firing 2nd year head coach Mike Brown after the team started 1-4. Assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff won two games over the weekend as interim coach. The Lakers are now 3-4. Sunday after speaking with former Lakers coach Phil Jackson and trying to work out travel arrangements, Jackson was stunned and maybe the rest of us where to as Los Angeles inked Mike D'Antoni to a 4 year contract. The former head coach of the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks. By the way the Lakers face Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks on Christmas Day. Melo is rumored to be the reason why D'Antoni 'resigned' from the Knicks during the middle of last season. Mike D'Antoni was Kobe Bryant favorite player while playing in Italy the country where Bryant spent most of his childhood, as his father played overseas. Instead of Jackson's triangle offense expect up and down transition basketball on offense. When Steve Nash comes back from injury he'll be right at home reunited with the coach that helped him win a pair of NBA MVP awards while in Phoenix. The Lakers and their fans better hope this is the right move. Because for these veterans : Bryant, Nash, Howard, Gasol and World Peace the time is now to win a championship.
