Chargers Headed North To Los Angeles

In 1961 during their second year of existence the Chargers moved from Los Angeles to San Diego. Ownership has decided affective for the 2017 NFL season, the team will relocate back to Los Angeles. After 56 years it's politics as usual. The Chargers will have a new city (Los Angeles) and a new head coach (Anthony Lynn). The political part comes from city/county/team not being able to come together on a new stadium in San Diego. Alex Spanos, has been the Chargers owner since 1984 and for the past 15 years, has been trying to get a new facility to replace outdated Qualcomm Stadium. His threats finally became a reality following the 2016 season. The word is that for the next few seasons the Chargers and their plethora of logos will play in Carson, California. Then they will share the Los Angeles Rams new stadium being built currently in Hollywood Park. Now the Charger fans in San Diego are left heart broken.

Bell+Brown+Big Ben = Too Much For Dolphins

Earlier in the season Pittsburgh loss on the road to Miami. AFC WildCard weekend provided the AFC North champions with a chance at revenge. Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi rushed for over 200 yards during the teams regular season matchup. This time around he was held to 33 yards. Meanwhile free agent to be running back Le'Veon Bell rushed for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns. Meanwhile early on Antonio Brown set the tone off short passes from Big Ben. Brown took a bubble screen to the house down the sideline and did the same on a crossing route. Those 2 1st quarter touchdowns gave the Steelers a then 14-0 over Miami. AB had 124 receiving yards. Meanwhile Ben Roethlisberger completed 13/18 passes for 197 yards. Waiting in the wings next Sunday at Arrowhead will the the AFC West champion Kanas City Chiefs.

Chiefs Win West Clinch Bye Reid Could Be Super

12-4 record in Kansas City which included a week 17 road win in San Diego, was how the west was won. The AFC West champion Chiefs, led by head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Alex Smith clinched a first round bye. No David Carr for Oakland assisted in that. The Raiders were unable to move the ball in Denver during the final week of the regular season. Oakland finished 12-4 as well yet due to regular season sweep at the hands of KC, the Raiders head to Houston in the Wild Card round. Meanwhile the Chiefs are AFC Superbowl favorites with the likes of New England and Pittsburgh. Coach Reid is looking to get back to his first Superbowl since landing in Jacksonville in February 2005. Where his Eagles came up short by 3 points in Superbowl XXXIX to the Patriots. Andy Reid also has to be a candidate for NFL coach of the year.

2016 A Season Of What If's...

The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2016 NFL season 3-0. Not only were the Eagles the talk of the NFL, they were the talk of Philadelphia. Much of the talk centered around a pair of rookies. A rookie quarterback in Carson Wentz. A rookie head coach in Doug Pederson. What if the bye week didn't come in week 4, when the offense was rolling in terms of no turnovers overall and no interceptions thrown by Wentz. A team that were NFL leaders in time of possession as well as giveaway/takeaway ratio. Defensively a team that was among the league leaders in sacks. Week 5 in Detroit after victories at home vs. Cleveland, away on Monday Night Football vs. Chicago and back at home vs. Pittsburgh to a tune of 34-3, the team came out sluggish at Ford Field. The team battled back to take a lead in the 4th quarter. The offense had the ball with a chance to run out the clock. A pitch on 3rd down to Ryan Matthews was called. What if it wasn't and the Eagles went to 4-0. Instead it was called and a fumbled happened. The Lions offense cashed in to take the league. Only down 2 with a little over one minute remaining all Philadelphia needed was a game winning field goal. Early in the drive following a few short completion, Wentz went deep to Nelson Aghlor and the rest they say is history. Darius Slay came down with the bomb attempt, Carson Wentz threw his first career interception. Lane Johnson following another performance enhancement test that didn't go in his favor, missed the first of 10 games. What if that suspension didn't happen. The Eagles were forced to re shuffle their offensive line. Redskins Ryan Kerrigan had a career day as well as his pass rushing team mates which resulted in a Washington win. Wentz spend most of the day under siege. What if the Eagles were able to hold onto the lead in Dallas. Some calls by Pederson with the lead eventually allowed Dallas back into the game and ultimately win in overtime. Which helped send the two teams in different directions for the remainder of the season.
