Despite Championship Game Defeat Watson Still A Winner
Deshaun Watson has always been a winner. A high school football state championship in his native Georgia. The Tigers sophomore quarterback bounced back from an ACL injury shortly after arriving on the Clemson campus. Clemson became the number one team in the county during the 2015 season. Once Clemson defeated the North Carolina Tarheels in the ACC Championship, they clinched their spot in the 2nd annual College Football Playoff. Watson and the Tigers knocked off Oklahoma in Miami at the Orange Bowl in blowout fashion 37-17. With that semifinal win Clemson was off to Glendale, AZ for a chance at their 1st national championship since 1981. However it was against Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Clemson undefeated season was on the line. DeShaun Watson was a Heisman Trophy finalist. His team would take on the winner of the trophy running back Derrick Henry and his Crimson Tide teammates. Instant Classic ! Alabama edged Clemson 45-40. 40 combined 4th quarter points for both teams. Back and forth game along with back and forth final frame. Watson was Vince Young like in the championship game : 30/47 passing 405 yards 4 TD's 1 INT. Watson all rushed for 73 yards on 20 attempts. 478 combined total yards for Watson. All eyes will be on Watson once the 2016 kicks off. He still has his goals National Championship especially after their only 2015 defeat game in their final game. Heisman Trophy after being a finalist. Personally wouldn't bet against the guy.
