2012-13 BCS Championship Game Many Believe It'll Be USC vs. Alabama
The Southeastern Conference has won so many consecutive BCS titles, I've lost count. Defending champion Alabama knocked off their SEC foe LSU last January to win the title. Now that USC is off probation and quarterback Matt Barkley has returned for his senior season, could the Trojans make a National Championship run ? Obviously the networks would love to see a pair of storied football schools go at, for all the marbles. USC from the Pac 12 (formerly Pac 10) vs. Alabama from the SEC. Lane Kiffin vs. Nick Saban, USC offense vs. Alabama defense, West Coast vs. South all the potential story lines are there. However that's why you play the games. College Football 2012 kicks off this weekend and Alabama faces a stern test in Week 1 vs. Michigan. Everyone knows the SEC is tough Florida, LSU, Auburn, Vanderbilt and South Carolina just to name a few. So there should be no surprise if they two teams meet or don't meet come January for the BCS title.
Billy Bean Back At It Again His A's Are Looking For A Postseason Birth
Oakland Athletics General Manager Billy Beane, has his baseball club right where they want to be. Coming down the stretch, entering the month of September, Oakland has a chance to make the 2012 Major League Baseball postseason. About a year ago, Beane was on the big screen. Brad Pitt played Billy Beane in the movie 'Money Ball'. The movie showed how Beane and his staff utilized different statistics when acquiring talent for his team. Oakland used that formula to make the playoffs several times in the early 2000's. Now the rest of Major League Baseball has picked up and try to copy the success that Beane and his staff used to judge players. Along with Baltimore and Tampa, the Athletics will battle for 1 of 2 American League Wild Card sports during the final full month of the regular season. Beane even in 2012 still is doing it his way and obviously still successful at it. Let's see if Oakland will make the playoffs and if they do how far could they potentially go.

Andrew Bynum & Jason Richardson Press Conference Had 2000-01 Energy From Fans
Sixers owners Adam Aaron and Joshua Harris, have owned the team for about a year. Late last week their team was able to acquire Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, who were part of a four team trade. Philadelphia and their fans showed joy during the players introduction press conference at the National Constitution Center. The Sixers owners, made a rare move they opened up the press conference to the public for free. The crowd went bananas once they saw Bynum and Richardson. What an experience today for myself and everyone there. Philadelphia basketball on the professional level haven't had that roar since the 2000-01 campaign where Allen Iverson won NBA MVP and led the team to the NBA Finals. Fans were screaming "Bynum Bynum" and "JRich JRich", along with "Let's go Sixers". The Philadelphia 76ers probably have their 1st legit NBA superstar since Allen Iverson. Only time will tell how long the love fest will last between Bynum and the fans.

Lebron James Ends The Olympics With A Crowning Achievement Joining Michael Jordan
After the USA Men's Basketball team defeated Spain 107-100 in the London 2012 Gold Medal game, Lebron James joined Michael Jordan. How did James join Jordan ? Similar to Michael Jordan in 1992 Lebron James in 2012 became only the 2nd player to win : Olympic Gold Medal, NBA Championship, NBA Finals MVP and NBA MVP. James also ties Jordan with 2 Olympic Gold Medals. Lebron would like the opportunity to represent USA Basketball during 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil, for a chance a 3 Gold Medals. While in London, Lebron James also became the 1st player in Olympic Basketball history to record a triple double. Now can Lebron help Miami win back to back NBA Finals ? Jordan following the 1992 Olympics help lead the Chicago Bulls to their 3rd straight title, defeating Phoenix in 6 games.

He's Back ! Terrell Owens Returns To The NFL
Terrell Owens tried out for the Seattle Seahawks. Terrell Owens has been signed to a 1 year deal by the Seattle Seahawks. Owens has not played in the NFL since 2010 with the Bengals prior to Cincinnati, T.O has played in Buffalo, Dallas, Philadelphia and of course San Francisco. Terrell since his last NFL game has played briefly in the Arena Football League. He also needs the money, from child support to business investments that did not go so well, Owens could utilize the funds. He must keep is noise clean in order to stick around. At age 38 T.O is most certainly in shape, teams sometimes don't want to deal with the media he attracts, from what he says. With T.O due to his age you never know what opportunity could be his last opportunity, so he has to make this one count.
Garrett Reid Son Of Andy Passes, Where Do Reid And His Philadelphia Eagles Go From Here
Sunday August 5th, 2012 an unfortunate event happened at 2012 Philadelphia Eagles training camp. Garrett Reid the 29 year old son of Eagles head coach Andy Reid was found dead in a Lehigh University dorm room. In their younger years Garrett and his younger brother Britt got into trouble, some even drug related. Many rumors since Garrett's death has become his passing is due to drugs. I'm sure an autopsy will disclose the exact cause of death. Many NFL players, coaches and teams around the league paid their respects via social media, then on Tuesday. Tuesday was the day Garrett's funeral was held in Broomall, PA. The entire Philadelphia Eagles team showed up on their off day to show support as well as many former Eagles including McNabb, Trotter and Westbrook. Reid will be back on the sideline for the Eagles first preseason game at home vs. Pittsburgh. Many Eagles players have already said they will dedicate the upcoming 2012 season to Garrett and Andy Reid. Andy would call his son 'G' he was assisting the Eagles training staff at Lehigh prior to his passing. Many wonder how will Coach Reid in his 14th season hold up going forward and will this situation bring the team together ?

When It Comes To Douglas Let's Talk Performance Not Hair
Gabriel Douglas the 16 year old United States gymnast from Virginia Beach, VA has become the talk of the Olympic Games in London this past week. The world now knows the talent Gabby has. Douglas won team and individual Gold Medals for the United States Women's gymnastic team. She also has landed the first of probably many endorsements, already landing on the box of Kellog's Corn Flakes. Unfortunately, social network opted to focus more on Gabby's hair opposed to her awesome performances throughout the week. Plenty of individuals on social network, attacked her hair because they didn't think it was done. Who cares ? Competing and being judged on your performance more importantly your effort is all the matters. Perm or no perm it really doesn't matter. Allow Douglas to enjoy the spotlight minus the hair criticisms. Similar the the Olympic Games in the 1990's Douglas hopefully can become an inspiration to young African American girls, like Dominique Dawes did for her, by getting them interested in the sport.
Serena Williams Wins 1st Singles Olympic Gold Medal
A month ago Serena Williams was at the All England Club. At the end of Wimbledon she added another Grand Slam title to her resume as she won the tournament. Fast forward several weeks later, Williams was back in London for the 2012 Summer Olympics. The 31 year old was seeking her first singles Gold Medal. As of Saturday that achievement has been scratched off the to do list. Williams easily won the Gold Medal taking back to back sets. In previous Olympic Games Serena won Doubles Gold Medals, playing with older sister Venus. Well after Saturday the Williams sisters added another Olympic Doubles Gold Medal to the trophy case. Serena has had a tremendous month in London England to say the least. What a turn around for the younger of the Williams sisters tennis duo. Serena last year struggled with injuries on the court and some battles off the court. It seems like everything is coming together once again. Serena is truly back at the top of her game.
